The fourth generation of the compact is already here with two different bodies, a power of 310 hp and an improved dynamism.
The brand with the four rings has arrived at the with its two Sportback and Sedan bodies, which, as we are used to in this version, comes with a more sporty front that includes the large Singleframe grille with a honeycomb finish that you are looking for. Enhance its sporty image, and bumpers and skirts with large air intakes that show off details in glossy black, while the wheels now sport more powerful brakes and 18-inch wheels that can optionally be 19 inches. Their usual four tailpipes and a more aggressive bumper are not lacking either. All this accompanied by the newly designed light clusters released in the new Audi A3.
As for the engine, Audi uses its 2.0 TFSI engine. This generation achieves a power of 310 horsepower and a torque of 400 Nm of maximum torque and is associated with a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission and the usual traction system total of Audi, the famous Quattro. However, it is surprising to see that, at least due to Audi’s information, this sports model will not have any 48-volt hybridization system as it does with its older buddies.
With all this engine is enough for these Audi S3 to offer an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in about 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h.
Technology at the service of dynamism
Based on the famous MQB Evo platform, also present in the new VW Golf and Seat León, this S3 has some modifications to the chassis for this sporty version that improves its dynamism. In this regard, the most outstanding elements are progressive steering, and a dynamic suspension that is capable of adapting in a matter of thousandths to the road conditions, the driving situation and the driver’s preferences and that can be adjusted with the usual comfort modes, auto and dynamic that here present a greater distance in behavior. Its brakes have internal ventilation, and its calipers can be optionally red.
Another key is a multi-disc electrohydraulic clutch, responsible for managing the four-wheel drive in the best way. This is located at the end of the transmission shaft, in front of the rear axle differential, a position that especially benefits weight distribution. Audi has modified the electronic torque distribution control mechanism, distributing it to the rear wheels that can reach 100%. The Quattro drive, as well as the aforementioned suspension, S Tronic transmission, throttle response, and steering assistance, can be modified thanks to the Audi drive select system, consisting of five modes: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual.
The interior is, of course, accompanied by all Audi proprietary technology, with the famous 12.5-inch Virtual Cockpit as standard and a large 10.1-inch screen in the center of the dash for the MMI infotainment system that comes here with its third generation MIB 3. All this with a plus of sportiness typical of this model and a complete arsenal of brand-name driver assistance systems.
